I know this is a bit old, but I'm curious about the "art test". could you give some insight into it. how long were you given. were you just given a subject matter. I assume you did not do this in the comfort of your own home?
The Art director gives you a short written description of a character, and several images of (in this case orcs) similar things that were created in-house (at WoTC) for reference. You make your piece in the time frame allotted, mine was open ended. Yes, did this on the computer at home, in my pj's
You've captured motion superbly between the Shamans hair in the air, arms, and his beads.
I also like how the Shaman is blocked into the scene and having the Clearest detail focused on him. Everyone else has a slightly darker tone, and their details aren't immensely dark. All lighting and detail extremities are given to the Shaman, while at the same time, these extremities are so incredibly minute (ie. Pure white only exists on the smoke being created.)
We also see Orcs in a rare state. Neither crazed or mad, or looking evil, we see them in a tranquil state.
